Jakarta, May 10, 2024 - The 10th World Water Forum, to be held in Nusa Dua, Bali, from May 18-25, 2024, will address water security issues, including improving access to clean water, and develop solutions and joint decisions, recognizing that achieving water security around the world is a key to sustainable development. This was announced by the President of the World Water Council, Loïc Fauchon, in Jakarta (5/10/24).
He further explained that the issue of water security is very broad, and encompasses the availability and accessibility of water services, including access to sanitation and drinking water, as well as the safety and quality of water.
He added that the main purpose of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali is to achieve a strong commitment from heads of state on water management and financing, and to deliver high-level messages that governments can implement when delegates return to their countries.
Earlier, the Vice Chairman of the National Organizing Committee (NOC) of the 10th World Water Forum and the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (MPWH) Basuki Hadimuljono held a coordination meeting to prepare for the 10th World Water Forum.
At the meeting, held at MPWH Main Building on May 10, 2024, the Minister gathered representatives from participating ministries/institutions, including the representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of National Development Planning, Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), National Disaster Management Agency, the Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (Narbo), and youth.
Basuki called on stakeholders to coordinate with each other and ensure that the schedule and agenda for the events of 10th World Water Forum are set.
The theme of the 10th World Water Forum is "Water for Shared Prosperity" and includes the following sub-themes: Water Security and Prosperity, Water for Humans and Nature, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Governance, Cooperation and Hydro- Diplomacy, Sustainable Water Financing, and Knowledge and Innovation.
