Badung, 24 May 2024—The final sessions of the 10th World Water Forum, which will take place in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Friday (24/5/2024), will discuss several agenda items. One of them concerns how to overcome climate change, which impacts water in the agricultural sector with various demographic and socio-economic characteristics in the region.
Indonesia will also share its experiences in facing the challenges of climate change. For example, in the session with the theme Foresight Climate Change Impact Indonesia: Strategy for Adaptation, the National Development Planning Agency's Deputy Minister for Facilities and Infrastructure, Evan Maksum, will present the application of the Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) concept. This concept focuses on increasing agricultural productivity, food security, and reducing emissions.
This CSA approach emphasizes the importance of adapting to unique geographic, cultural, and economic contexts and facilitating a comprehensive understanding of challenges and opportunities. This is in accordance with the conditions of Indonesia, an archipelagic country with more than 500 districts/cities.
In addition, today, several synthesis sessions will conclude the discussions held over the previous four days. Several themes for the synthesis sessions are "Safe water for all," "Integrated flood prevention and management," and "Special schemes and incentives to promote green finance." All discussion sessions lasted until around 14.30 WITA.
The 10th World Water Forum will conclude with a closing ceremony at 16.40-18.10 WITA, at Mangupura Hall, Bali International Convention Center (BICC). The end of the closing ceremony will be marked by handing over the hosting of the 11th World Water Forum to Saudi Arabia.
After all the formal sessions are over, the 10th World Water Forum participants will be treated to a cultural evening event, Cultural Night at Baghawan Park. Participants will enjoy culinary festivals, cultural performances, crafts, regional music, and exhibitions of superior products from regions in Indonesia. At this event, participants can also buy typical Indonesian souvenirs. (Ayu Sulistyowati/TR/Elvira Inda Sari)
