The cultural festival representing the 38 provinces of Indonesia will enliven the 10th World Water Forum May 18 to 25, 2024. One of the unique cultural displays will include the celebration of Rahina Tumpek Uye and the Segara Kerthi Ceremony.

Director General of Water Resources from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, as well as the Chair of the Logistics Division of the National Organizing Committee for the 10th World Water Forum, Bob Arthur Lombogia, called for the local governments' support to ensure the success of this international forum.

"We invite our local governments to participate in various event of the 10th World Water Forum, including the Cultural Night, which will be held at Taman Bhagawan on May 24, 2024," Bob said during the Coordination Meeting for Local Government Participation and Association for the Organization of the 10th World Water Forum on Wednesday (2/7/2024).

The Cultural Night event will be crafted to introduce the unique regional cultures, including cuisine, crafts, and performances, to the participants. One of these will be the celebration of Rahina Tumpek Uye and the Segara Kerthi Ceremony, which will take place at Melasti Beach.

Harmonizing Humanity and Nature

In Balinese tradition, tumpek Uye signifies a ceremony of gratitude for animals, both those sacrificed and those kept as pets. The essence of this tradition is to worship the Hindu Gods, Ida Sang Hyang Widhi, and Sang Hyang Siwa Pasupati.

Based on the Bali Governor's Intruction Number 1 of 2022, the celebration of Rahina Tumpek Uye is conducted alongside the Segara Kerthi Ceremony. Guided by the values of local wisdom Sad Kerthi, this tradition serves as a guideline to create prosperity and happiness for the Balinese community.

 The celebration of Tumpek Uye and the Segara Kerthi Ceremony itself signifies that humans should be grateful to the Creator and maintain harmony between humanity and nature, as outlined in the teachings of Tri Hita Karana.

Balinese Hindus typically celebrate Rahina Tumoek Uye every 210 days according to the Balinese calender, specifically on Saniscara (Saturday) Kliwon Wuku Uye. Every institution, village, and customary area in the Province of Bali will hold this celebration.

Potential Sponsor Involvement

In addition to engaging local governments, the National Organizing Committee for the 10th World Water Forum also opens up the potential for sponsor involvement in the Cultural Night event. Private companies and organizations can contribute to funding for food and beverages, as well as cultural performances.

Furthermore, there will be a Fair and Expo held throughout the peak of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali. The exhibition and trade fair locations will be at bustling points, including the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Bali International Convention Center, Bali Collection, Tsunami Shelter Plaza - Kuta Beach, and the Museum Pasifika.

The 10th World Water Forum aims to be attended by 30,000 participants from various countries and will be broadcasted by numerous national and international media outlets. Participation in one of the world's largest water forums will be highlighted and can be beneficial for fostering strategic cooperation.
