Jakarta - The 10th World Water Forum is getting closer. The National Organizing Committee of the 10th World Water Forum together with the World Water Council visited several Ministries/institutions as a form of invitation to participate in making the 10th World Water Forum a success.

On Tuesday  (26/03/2024), World Water Council President Loïc Fauchon and the ranks of the National Organizing Committee of the 10th World Water Forum visited the Ministry of Home Affairs to discuss preparations for the 10th World Water Forum.  Loïc stressed the importance of committing to fostering stringer collaboration for the 10th World Water Forum. "This forum is a large international forum that will discuss crucial issues in the water sector. Therefore, the contribution of various parties is needed for the success of this forum," said Loïc in Jakarta.

Chairman of the Secretariat of the National Organizing Committee of the 10th World Water Forum 2024 and Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing Mohammad Zainal Fatah said, at this forum there will be various agendas that need to involve Local Authorities. "We believe that the knowledge possessed by the Regional and Local Authorities can enrich this forum," said Zainal.

Regional and Local Process Agenda

In the implementation of the 10th World Water Forum Regional and Local Process, the following series of activities will be carries out, namely first, the Political, Thematic and Regional Process will be held on 20-25 May 2024. For the Local Authority meeting, it will be divided into 6 sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, 21-22 May 2024.

The Local Authority Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 21 May 2024, at 13.00–18.00 WITA (3 slots) and Wednesday, 22 May 2024, at 08.30–14.30 WITA (3 slots). Regarding Local Authorities, it is planned to invite around 150 Regional Government leaders, of which 50 represent the Asia-Pacific region. 

Loïc hopes that the Ministry of Home Affairs can continue to support and encourage Regional Governments to be actively involved in the Local Authority Process and the Cultural Night program. "Regional governments also have an important role in water issues, therefore their involvement and aspirations are also needed in this forum," said Loïc. 

Loïc also added that the aspirations expressed by local authorities together with UCLG World must be collected and channelled properly as input into the Ministerial Declaration as the final result of the 10th World Water Forum.
