Jakarta – World Water Council’s President Loïc Fauchon expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian government as the host country of the 10th World Water Forum 2024. This was expressed by Loïc during his meeting with the Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, Dwikorita Karnawati, at the BMKG Office, Jakarta, this week.
The President of the World Water Council, accompanied by the Director of the Asia Pacific World Water Council and the 10th World Water Forum, Yoon-Jin Kim, as well as a number of officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (MPWH), was in mission to see the operation of the BMKG’s Climate Early Warning System (CEWS).
"I would like to express my appreciation to the Indonesian government as the host country of the 10th World Water Forum. We are here to have a thorough review of the final preparations for the 10th World Water Forum," said Loïc.
Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Dwikorita Karnawati said that the 10th World Water Forum event was a strategic means as well as platform for mainstreaming the consolidation programs and follow-up actions to accelerate the achievement of the UN Water Agenda targets.
"This mobility requires your support to address next challenges and collaborations with many other parties," said Dwikorita.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Climatology, Ardhasena Sopaheluwakan explained about active monitoring of weather patterns in Indonesia, integration of data from various sources and predictions for events related to weather and climate.
"We actually have a vision of integrating all water information. We also operate the Regional Training Center for the WMO for the Southwest Pacific and Southeast Asia. We also operate the Regional Climate Center for the Southeast Asia part of the WMO. I think there is quite a lot of mobility that can be carried out by Indonesia that will also benefit the surrounding countries," said Ardhasena.
The visit of the President of the World Water Council, Loïc Fauchon, to Indonesia, accompanied by the Director of the Asia Pacific World Water Council and the 10th World Water Forum, Yoon-Jin Kim, aims to see the latest progress on preparations for the 10th World Water Forum which will be held in less than two months.
Apart from the meeting with Head of BMKG, Loïc Fauchon also met with a number of officials, including Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahudin Uno, as well as Indonesian Armed Forces/National Police officials.
