Denpasar, May 19, 2024 - World Water Council President Loïc Fauchon acknowledged Indonesia's professionalism in hosting the 10th World Water Forum, which will take place from May 18 to 25, 2024.
"I have been involved in the preparation of this forum for 30 years, and this meeting in Indonesia is the most professional and efficient preparation I have ever seen," said Fauchon when he attended the Segara Kerthi ceremony on Saturday (5/18/2024).
He also expressed his gratitude for the efforts of Indonesian ministers and the entire organizing team of the 10th World Water Forum who have served as water ambassadors for the past four years. "And today you (Indonesia) are the champions," he said.
Fauchon repeatedly thanked Indonesia and the organizing team for the opportunity to participate in Balinese religious ceremonies, including Segara Kerthi ceremony, and experience them first-hand. “I can celebrate and honor the Balinese tradition of purification. This water purification ceremony is a symbol that water is sacred.” he added.
“Hopefully we can take inspiration from this water purification ceremony and build and strengthen community relationships, solidarity and respect for nature," he said.
"We have prepared this forum well and I am sure that this forum with this beautiful afternoon, this extraordinary ceremony, will be a diplomatic victory for Indonesia and will be very smooth and successful," Fauchon concluded.
Minister of Public Works and Public Housing and Vice Chairman of the National Organizing Committee of the 10th World Water Forum, Basuki Hadimuljono, said Indonesia's diplomatic victory in organizing the water forum is special because this is the first time Indonesia is hosting a meeting at the high-level conference of heads of states.
"This is the first time that a summit (High Level Conference) has been held at the World Water Forum, a meeting of heads of state. Secondly, for the first time there is a ministerial declaration and for the first time there is a compendium, i.e. concrete results for various projects signed at the largest World Water Forum. These three things have given Indonesia a diplomatic victory at the World Water Forum," emphasized Minister Basuki. (Ni Komang Erviani)
