PRESIDENT REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

Your Excellency Mr. Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council

Let me begin by briefly inform you how vast Indonesia is. Have you ever imagined a single country can has actual length similar to the distance from London to Tehran? Indonesia encompasses more than 17.000 islands poured by diverse cultures, rich flora and fauna, heart-stopping mountains and beaches, not to mention South-East Asia’s best culinary paradise. It is indeed a choose-your-own-adventure travel destination. As you may have known, that Bali Islands is the most popular among Indonesia’s Islands and in term of tourism, it is globally everyone’s favourite.Bali offers unique cultures along with a strong religious nuance. You can immerse yourself in the magic of Kecak Dance, staying in an eye-opening ocean view hotel and even take a woodcarving lesson there. Over decades, Bali has set perfect harmony with its nature, including water.

Water has no doubt affected Bali’s way of life, it has played a crucial role in every aspect of human life. Water is important to support areas such as household, industry, trade, agriculture, as well as sailing.

However, water sustainability has still been one of the most pressing issues in Indonesia.

Having said that, Indonesia is committed to tackle water-related challenges and improve water management. That is why, Indonesia had actively participated in waterrelated international events, such as World Irrigation Forum.

Indonesia believes that through effective collaboration from all participant with utilizing each other’s wealth of experience, we can share best ideas, practices and solutions for water challenges in lively and engaging dialogues. Ultimately, The 10th World Water Forum 2024 in Bali will be a successful and timely occasion for us to reaffirm our commitment and shared values on successful water management and sustainability.

Finally, I have the pleasure and honour to formally endorse the bid by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of the Republic of Indonesia to host the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia in March 2024. Your Excellency Mr. Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council
