Water is the most crucial natural resource on Earth, given its essential role in all forms of life. Despite the fact that 72% of Earth's surface is covered by water, only 2.5% of it is fresh and suitable for consumption.
On the other hand, global water supplies are under increasing pressure due to rising population, urbanization, and rapid industrialization. This situation is exacerbated by the intensifying impacts of climate change that disrupts the water sysle.
The World Resources institute project that by 2040, 44 countries will experience high to extremely high water stress levels. This report also highlights that the developing countries are the most vulnerable to water stress.
The 10th World Water Forum
The Sustainable Development Goals adopted by world leaders in 2015 set out a vision for a world free of poverty, hunger, disease and want. However, there are still around 2 billion people worldwide without access to safely managed drinking water services.
For this reason, we should put water-related issues at the center of the global agenda. In order to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and drive effective efforts toward this aim, we must address various aspects including water and human relation, water security, disaster risk mitigation and management, governance and cooperation, water financing, knowledge, and innovation.
In line with this vision, the Indonesian Government will host the 10th World Water Forum from May 18 to 24 2024, In Bali. This international forum provides and opportunity for challenges in the water sector.
Join The Live Talkshow
As the co-host and National Organizing Committe of the 10th World Water Forum, Indonesian government in collaboration with World Water Council, invite all parties to attend the Live Talkshow titled "Road to the World Water Forum: Water for Shared Prosperity" on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, 3 pm CEST, at Room 27, 2nd Floor, stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre.
The talkshow will be led by Indonesian Minister of public Works and Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono. This interactive dialogues will discuss the upcoming programs of the 2nd Stakeholders consultation Meeting, scheduled 12-13 October 2023, in Bali.
Furthermore, the event will shed light on the organization of the 10th World Water Forum, including explanations about thematic, regional, and political processes concerning various topics and issues.
The Live Talkshow will also emphasize the roles and contributions of stakeholders Consultation Meeting and other processes of the 10th World Water Forum, with the aim of prioritizing water issues as a central global political agenda and calling for a stronger commitment to water cooperation.
